Pag sinabing golden days ng DLSU eh ang naalala ko eh yung 1989 na first UAAP championship. Team nila Limpot, Cardel, del Rosario, Monasterio, Dinglasan, Bachman, SantaMaria, Jonas Mariano, Espinosa, Locsin, the lago brothers,..etc.
Pag tapos ng championship, balik lahat sa campus and bumaha ng pagkain sa field from sponsors like purefoods..etc. May bonfire pa nung gabi. Lahat sobrang saya. Eh first UAAP championship ba naman eh.
Pati nga si Mang Jack eh may cheer na.
"Go, Mang Jack, Go Go Mang Jack!"
Hahaha...napaghahalata ba yung edad?

Di ko naabutan sila Limpot eh, I was introduced to the UAAP nung post-Aldeger era. Buti lang, at least naabutan ko last year ni Renren. Nag bonfire rin ata sa celebration party nun, kasi grand slam eh, 4th title in a row. Pero la pa ko DLSU nun eh, I was just rooting for them
Pati nga si Mang Jack retire na eh, times are changing

naabutan ko last season ni aldegeur... the best finals game i've ever seen... UST-DLSU game 3 at cuneta astrodome (time na konti pa lang scalpers at cellar-dwellers pa ang ADMU at sa channel 4 pa pinapalabas ung games)... w/ less than 10 seconds to go yata, we were down by 2, then aldegeur hit a 3 point shot... and the rest, as they say, is history... i was there katabi mga yellow shirts and I saw the frustration in their faces...

Correction lang sir.
DLSU was down by 3. Dino shot a 3, foul and count it! But missed the free throw so it had to go overtime. Then the rest is history.
So that's why ayaw na ng UST kalabanin ang DLSU sa Cuneta, kaya pala sa Araneta na ni-schedule ng UST, swerte nila host pa sila this season kaya pwede iwasan ang place of memories para sakanila

I was a freshman when Ateneo beat La Salle in the 1988 finals. What's memorable in that game was when the buzzer sounded at the end of the game. Dindo Pumaren cried in the middle of the court after losing to Ateneo. And Jun Reyes, ran towards the La Salle gallery giving us the finger. It was a painfull loss to La Salle, but we had our revenge the next year by winning our first UAAP championship.
